visited 6/7 showrooms .. i saw 2/3 shop oweners closing them permanently ..taken all of them feedback .. decided to sell.. see what i dont like about ttk is they are chasing the growth at any cost.. like they import cheap products from china sold those with their labels.. lot of complaints on products .. they are deviating from their core business . .. margins on new products coming less .. ttk can grow upto 5500 and more than that.. but i am not comfortable to hold these kind of companies .. this can shake any time  | ||

I think by just takng the feedback from one showroom we can not judge the sales volume..because its presence is there through out india...tamilnadu power problems...these are shortterm headwinds...these are the times we need to accumulate units...longterm story intact..i believe.. I used to moniter every quarterly results... I did not go to such an extent to meet management.. when ever correction comes due to quarterlly results,i used to accumulate units.. | ||

You are right ..even if 1 stock fail , 5-7 stocks can cover that risk in my opinion.. i am fortunate have friend circle who can talk to management directly .. whatever the stocks i have track them very closely .. with that tracking I have sold these 1)bought ttk at 740 rs sold 4200 rs -- visited prestige smart kitchen showrooms in Bangalore , Hyd .. taken the opinion from dealers .. sold it .. i can not do these if i hold 18 stocks . 2) titan bought 70 rs sold at 290 rs | ||

hmm no idea on this two stocks .. as i said i like majority of your stocks ..personally i can not track these many stocks as i am into full time IT job.. so i have chosen to have just 5 stocks where i have more conviction.. This worked for me greatly .. started 4 years back with 15 laksh .. added 12 lakhs in between .. Now that worth is more than crore .. if you can track 18 companies closely that is fine to have .. | ||

The reason why they have skipped from banking licence is...As per RBI new guide lines..it will not be more profitable venture than being as NBFC. if turned as bank..they have to invest 23% (SLR)in government bonds and securites...and 4% (CRR)with RBI....this will reduce their prfit margins.. and also as per new policy they have to penetrate more on rural areas whrere population is below 50k... So these current RBI rules are not confortable for any successfull NBFC... Groth wise MM FIN and BAjaj Fin...can Grow at 30-35%...just see their balance sheets of last 4 years... | ||

I too like HDFC Bank.for its terrific managemnet....But its large cap stock..and expansion penetration is limited...its kind of 20% growth..thats why i went for mid cap banks like YES BANK and INDUSIND...Those can grow at 30-35% and there is lot scope for penetration... | ||

Just i went for 18 stocks only for divercification... See Ranbaxy and Wockhardt companies fate...it will take 1-2 years time to cope up.. Yes I wanted bring them to 10...but I could not..Because those are performing very well...I hope will do well in future as well... first thing first I like majority of your stocks .. all are in growth phase.. >>What sanjy bakshi saying is min. 10 stocks not more than 10% in each stock.. I do not believe in thumb rules .. some people say invest in equites only upto (100-your age)%. 18 stocks even for 80 Lakshs:- I believe it is called over diversification .. kind of you are maintaining a mutual fund .. in the long run it wont help you to get good returns .. Buffet said in one of his letter that "Diversification is Protection Against Ignoranceâ . so if i were in your position i trim it down 7 - 10 stocks in which i am more convinced and track those closely .. i know a person who has 5 crores in just 5 companies where he has more conviction .. that is not me hope this help .. let me know if you need any help | ||

markets liked Titan for their capability of 25-30% growth .. and with less capital requirement and free cash flow to scale the business up .. now it is difficult.. ..in fact it was one of my all time fav company .. i will re look into this only after 1 - 2 years .. | ||

I agree with your points. ya govt will try to restrict the people from buying gold. but the thing is Indians love gold. they purchased gold even when they are at higher prices than they are right now and they rarely treat as investment. I heard that for small shop owners its getting difficult to acquire gold from banks and sourcing agencies. It is taking approx. 15 days to get hold of the gold where as for big players like Titan they can directly import gold. reg the extra cost due to difficult in cash leveraging, Titan is in better position to borrow money easily than small players. I think this will eliminate all the small shops and that customers may come to big shops. Also with small players difficult to survive with more cash requirement, if titan can capture the business even with the existing stores then it will mostly balance the interest burden. But whether titan can attain CAGR of 25 to 30% with this only after observing few quarterly results we will know. | ||

yes to some extent but not to the extent that they can grow with 25-30% CAGR .. earlier they were working gold on lease model upto to 6 months with almost zero interest .that gave free cash flow to them , they are using that to open new new tanishqe,titan eye plus, watch,fast track stores . with the new rbi rules they need around 1000--1500 crores for buying gold every year ..where from they get this money ?. they need borrow it or dilute the equity ? this effect scaling of the business.. so any way i would like have companies which can give 25-30% CAGR ..so avoiding is my thesis .. | ||

Feelgud, reg titan, with rbi restrictions on gold buying leverage, and Indians appetite to buy gold jewellary during functions, most of the small players will get killed where as for bigger companies like titan ... won't this be advantage. more over titan is opening more stores this fiscal so more revenue. | ||

nope .. avoid .without free cash flow they can not scale the business.cash flow disturbed with new RBI policy on gold imports/hedging
why should u choose which is highly depend on on foreign countries?.you should choose the companies which are focused more on india .. and for small portfolios like u have u need to be very focused and just choose 3-5 stocks to get outstanding returns .. | ||
