Soon after his return from the 10-day vacationing in the United States, he did not waste time in positioning himself as a saviour of Telugu pilgrims stranded in the Himalayan state following the deluge. Accompanied by his party MPs and other leaders, he visited Uttarakhand and then staged a dharna at the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in Delhi, protesting against the inadequate facilities for the flood victims. Naidu saw an immense political opportunity in the situation and has been attacking the Congress governments at the Centre and in the state for their apathy and callousness towards the plight of the flood victims. In a latest move, he, along with some senior party leaders, left for Dehradun on Wednesday by a special flight. He will stay put in the Uttarakhand capital to coordinate the rescue and relief works targeted at the Telugus stranded there. The TDP chief has asked his party MP Nama Nageshwara Rao to station himself in Delhi and take care of the food and transport needs of the Telugu pilgrims. On his part, Naidu will camp in Dehradun till the completion of rescue and relief operations. The TDP has so far succeeded in highlighting the deficiencies in the relief measures being provided by the state government. Naidu has blamed the Central and State governments for not responding adequately and promptly to the plight of pilgrims of Char Dham. The TDP supremo lamented that the relief operations were •••••••• control room was set up and there was poor coordination with the Army which was fully involved in the rescue operations. The main opposition party had arranged a special flight to shift the victims to Hyderabad and from there they were taken to their native places by private buses.
