You need access point for wifi-roaming.

If you configure access point with different SSID/authentication (than primary router's SSID/auth), you will end up with two different wifi networks. If you make the SSIDs same (and make chnanels different) then you get wifi-roaming. Your clients can connect to either routers seamlessly.

First one is a router and second one has to be an Access Point. If you install custom firmware like DD-WRT on any old router, you can use it as Access Point.

They can be different brands, models but can be worked together.

The config. you described below is called "wifi-roaming"

Right now, I have 1 primary router, 3 access points covering entire house. I get strong wifi signal in every corner and my mobile device switched between routers seamlessly when I move.

Technical Summary

First Router
1.192.168.1.1
2.DHCP to use the range 192.168.1.3-192.168.1.254
3.A wireless channel like 11

Second Router
1.192.168.1.2
2.DHCP is disabled
3.Identical wireless security setup as First Router except the wireless Channel. Try channel 6 if the first is 11 (at least 5 channel difference)

Modem -> Router 1 connected 1st..
LAN port of Router 1 (downstairs) -> LAN port on wall
LAN port on wall -> LAN port of Router 2 (upstairs)

and upstairs/downstairs comfortable ga hi speeds tho vaadu kovachu..

only questions..

rendu routers same type ayyundaala??

or okati AC okati koncham old type router (like Linksys E2000 ayyunte) ok naa??
