The devastating floods to Ganga and Yamuna rivers in the Uttarakhand state left a trail of destruction and claimed hundreds of lives. And thousands of pilgrims, including from Andhra Pradesh, who were on a Char Dham Yatra got stranded in the flood ravaged areas. While the Uttarakhand government and central paramilitary forces are doing their best to rescue the stranded pilgrims, the Telugu ministers in the Central cabinet, especially union tourism minister K Chiranjeevi, have failed to come to the rescue of Telugu tourists who were stuck up in the yatra. And when some Telugu pilgrims managed to reach New Delhi after undergoing a lot of trauma, our leaders failed to provide them with proper facilities like food and water. Reports from New Delhi said it was only after the intervention of union minister of state for railways Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy that the Telugu pilgrims got some relief at the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan. Kotla had earned their appreciation for his pro-active measures such as timely supply of food and water. He also ensured that they all got railway tickets to go back to their native places. On the other hand, Chiranjeevi just made a visit to the AP Bhavan and called on the pilgrims amidst media glare. He told them that he would talk to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and see that they would get all the facilities. |
