Iamim:Third Front has never been formed before the elections. It has come to existence only after elections. Even today, I do not think there is any room for the formation of a Third Front, because whom will you project as a leader. The day you announce the formation of a Third Front, there will be a tussle over leadership. And everyone would want to project himself for the post of Prime Minister. If it (Third Front) comes to existence, it can but only after elections," he added.

Iamim:With Modi on forefront no tie-up with NDA: Omar Third Front May Take Shape After Parliamentary Polls D A RASHID Srinagar, June 16: Ruling out any tie-up with BJP-led NDA alliance in future, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sunday said National Conference (NC) can never dream of going with the party that is projecting Narendra Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate. He also said that there is the possibility of Third Front taking shape after Parliamentary polls. We were able to tie up with the NDA because it was headed by somebody like Atal Behari Vajpayee. Parties like mine could never dream of going in an alliance where the face that is to be projected, is the one that the BJP is working towards, Omar told media persons on the sidelines of Judicial Academy inaugural function here. He said BJP needs to figure out whether Narendra Modi can deliver as many seats which the NDA seems to be losing with a key partner leaving the alliance. There was always this possibility that with the elevation of Narendra Modi, some of the allies in the NDA would be extremely uncomfortable. I believe now the challenge for BJP is, as they gradually lose allies, they will have to figure out whether Narendra Modi can deliver that many seats. Because if not, then their (BJP) dream of occupying the treasury benches in Parliament will remain unfulfilled," Omar said while reacting to Janata Dal (United)'s announcement of parting ways with the NDA. Omar, whose party NC severed ties with NDA in 2003, said the split of JD(U) from the alliance is an advantage for the UPA. "I believe the same is true for a number of allies. You have seen the Chief Minister of Orissa, he has made a similar statement. The Chief Minister of West Bengal, they are all previous allies of NDA who will not go back to tying up with the BJP because of the face they are projecting. So clearly, with this sort of scenario, it is advantage UPA," Omar said. The Chief Minister said it was for the Congress to decide on whether to extend the hand of friendship to JD(U) or not. "What Congress has to do or not, it is their decision. We are a part of UPA and if tomorrow Nitish Kumar joins, then obviously the alliance will be strengthened. But, will the Congress extend the hand of friendship to Nitish Kumar or not is for the Congress to decide," he said. Marking a watershed in Bihars politics, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday broke the 17-year-old alliance with the BJP anticipating the rise of Narendra Modi in the run up to the 2014 polls. Omar also ruled out the formation of Third Front before the elections. "Third Front has never been formed before the elections. Earlier, Omar in his presidential address at the inaugural function of State Judicial Academy Complex said the Courts should not grant stay on flimsy grounds on development projects and appointments as according to him such decisions hamper the development works. I have sole request that stay on flimsy grounds on development projects and appointments orders should not be granted as it hampers development he said. Stressing the need for a good faculty in the State Judicial Academy, Omar said a colossal building will not serve any purpose if there is no good faculty available to deliver. He said the judicial officials should benefit from the faculty whether it comes from the state or outside. One is never too old to learn and it is always beneficial to learn from the experiences of others. So one should not hesitate to come to the Judicial Academy to learn for the benefit of others, he said. The Chief Minister said there are many things which should be taken care of to avoid impediments in receiving justice. Seeking long dates in the listing of the cases is prolonging delivery of justice and the practice needs to be done away with as Justice delayed is justice denied, Omar said. Underscoring the need for having judges in full strength, Omar said; Unless we have judges, the problem of pendancy will continue to persist.
