More than anybody else, it is senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member K V P Ramachandra Rao, who is more than jubilant over the appointment of AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh as the party in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs. In fact, the first statement on the appointment of Digvijay Singh replacing Ghulam Nabi Azad as the party in-charge of AP affairs came from KVP, who normally keeps silent on any major development in the party including the central cabinet expansion. KVP said the Congress party in the state had got a new lease of life with the appointment of Digvijay Singh as the in-charge. One wonders why KVP was so elated over Digvijay Singh’s appointment. Well, Digvijay Singh was part of the YSR coterie in Delhi in which KVP was playing the key role; secondly, it was Singh who had played instrumental role in securing the Rajya Sabha seat to KVP. And there were allegations that Digvijay Singh was one the beneficiaries of suitcase politics of KVP during the YSR regime. On many occasions, Divijay Singh visited KVP’s residence whenever he came to Hyderabad. Naturally, KVP would expect to get back his glory with the return of Digvijay Singh as in-charge of Andhra affairs! This was disclosed by former MLA Boda Janardhan, who quit the YSR Congress party on Monday.
