Only not-for-profit schools & colleges are tax exempted so not sure these corporate colleges are tax - exempted. That being said, recently Birla group came up with open minds in Hyderabad and this school has a franchisee model just like 7- 11, Euro kids etc.. and I had a look at some of their documents. It states that a not for profit trust has to be set up by the franchisee and Birla Edutech will be a part of this trust. So as per my understanding what ever money is collected in the form of capitation fee, annual fee etc etc... can be manipulated and shown as though the established trust is using for imparting education which in essence translates to getting a tax exemption. This is how most of the schools are set up and run. For corporate colleges like Narayana & Chaithanya it doesn't work like this and they are more than happy to deal in cash for payments. | ||
