The YSR Congress party has decided to organise massive protest rallies all over the state on May 27, on which party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy will be completing one year of his stay in Chanchalguda jail. This was decided at the extended executive committee meeting of the party held in Hyderabad under the leadership of Jagan's mother and party's honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi. She called upon the party rank and file to take a strong message into the people how the Congress party and the Telugu Desam Party had conspired together to keep Jagan in jail as long as possible. She suggested that apart from organising rallies all over the state, the party leaders should give representation to Governor E S L Narasimhan or President of India Pranab Mukherjee on the same day. Vijayamma called upon the leaders to strengthen the party base at all levels. "It is essential that the party should be strong at the grass-root level if it has to win good number of seats in the local body elections. We should take the local body elections in a prestigious way and ensure that the local leadership is strong. There is a need to choose good and efficient leaders," she said.
