Thanks guys. Restoring option doesn't work. But backup and reset to factory option resolved the issue. But it took more than 1 hr.

Simba:

I tried it, I am able to add new icons. But the important icons like Safari, settings, app store are not appeared on home screen or in any folders. These icons were there on my old task bar before they disappeared. I am able to access them using search only.

It looks like multiple people posted this issue in apple forum but I didn't find the answer.

Long hold on any icon... icons start wobbling with x at the top-right. Select and drag the icons back on to taskbar.

Reset is my final option. Just thinking if there is an alternate option without reset.

I have iPad2. In the bottom task bar, the application shortcuts (like safari, app store etc...) are disappeared. I see a grey bar only. I am able to open those applications using search but unable to create the shortcuts on home page or task bar. How do I bring those applications back on to the task bar? TIA
