 My findings and my opinions will be skewed...I am a public school as well as allround education advocate - at the risk of bragging - my older son went to public schools all the way thru and got into pretty good colleges and programs(UT(austin),GeorgiaTech,CMU) He regularly outscores his peers from the Pvt schools in acad competitions and will be graduating with a ton of AP credits. Same with our cousin's daughter - pub school , got into the big Ivy names SO I do not see what the big hoopla about Pvt. schools is- except their college application/counseling services As to basis we will find out in a year - I spoke to DMA's friend last night and it only made me feel even more wary about it - my younger one is very social and likes to participate in a lot of activities - not sure he will like having to give them up unless he can figure out a way to do the work and find time for everything else  The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet : James Oppenheim | ||

you are true but we hope for the best i went to ordinary schools in india, but i still want the best for my daughter plain and simple if you can afford the fees, notting beats private school saying that doesnt mean every body from private schools is gem and topper my cousins kid goes to private school, couldnt score more than 1850 in sat my friend kid goes to public, he scored 2300+ in SAT .those who are serious about their watches display them prominently, those who are more concerned with style and branding present you with aircraft carriers and hide their watches. | ||

discipline, creative learning, activities, everything is really good she has picked lot music and dance, no stage fear and communication has improved a lot we have good public school system also it was our choice to send her to private school even though public school system is good and we are paying to 25k a year .those who are serious about their watches display them prominently, those who are more concerned with style and branding present you with aircraft carriers and hide their watches. | ||

No. Free But for certain sports, the kid has to qualify to represent middle school in that event. Example tennis team. There will be only 12 slots for boys, 12 slots for girls for whole middle school (6th,7th and 8th grades). Same with basketball, football etc. For athletics, anyone can participate | ||

Track and field, tennis , BB (spurs city after all) are pretty standard here... The good thing about Flex though is, it is a period within the school day - they get to try different fun activites and they can start any club if they find enough kids to participate

my elder one is same, 6th now. they have similar things like math/science/academic bowls preparation and participations, music, band, chess etc. maa vaadi school lo, they even offer athletics track and field and tennis. For tennis, one has to make the cut, but for track and field anyone and everyone can join. These are after school events. ends at 5 pm. No school bus | ||

Their current school has something called flex-period - where they can go into any of the extracurricular activities offered...fencing, chess, fishing,soccer, math/sci competition clubs, soccer or advisory.In addition a ton of electives Band, culinary arts, woodshop, orchestra etc...long list of options.. hmm...donno bro, may be aa situation lo untay different ga thinking sesthanemo, but I honestly feel our kids performance in school is directly proportional to us spending sometime after school with them at home AND their class teacher (how motivated they are, how good they are in communicating with parents, etc). I know a family, that sends two kids to a top private school here, paying somewhere between 50K-60K a year to the school. This on a single income. Hatsoff to the parents though, I am sure they must be making lots of sacrifices to accomplish that. | ||
