Ammayya story dorikindi... There used to be six sages, known as Shadgarbha-s, who were the sons of a sage called Mareechi. These six sages have once made fun of the atrophied body of a sage called Devala, earning that sage Devalaâs curse. Thereby these six sages had to emerge as the six sons of Kaalanemi, son of Hiranyaaksha, brother of Hiranyakasipu. And these six accursed sages performed penance praying Brahma. Brahma gave the boon of unkillabilty to these six in return for the penance. But, Hiranyakashipu, the uncle of Kaalanemi, cursed six of them in a bad mood saying, âtake birth on earth where your own father will kill each of you...â These were the six babies born to Queen Devaki and killed by Kamsa (who was their father Kalanemi in the earlier body, as per curse of their uncle in the previous bodies!). Then what happened to the boon of Lord Brahma that they would be âunkillableâ? | ||

while rama is incarnation of vishnu, but in reality rama never behaved as GOD. that is the essense. He taught the world how a human should behave without leaving dharma and showed in practice. We worship the dharma in Rama and in turn Rama became the synonym of dharma. | ||

At the same time, i don't want them to go to school and tell friends/teachers that there is no god. And kharma kaali, ye catholic school ko pampalsi vasthe inkaa danger if you say no god. Irrespective of my belief system, i love maha bharat, ramayana stories. Excellently written stories with so many emotions. And there are ton of good things to learn from them even if you are a atheist/non-believer by looking at them as good stories. | ||

First of all read proper books on Sri Ramayanam (valmiki ramayanam available through gorakhpur press) or Mahabharatam (by veda vyasa) instead of reading anything or watching movies (especially Nandamuri ramayanam or bharatam). Then you will have clear understanding of why it happened that way. you should be able to answer the questions. I teach my kid(s) bharatam and try my best to apply then situations to current and proceed. Ofcourse kids need not know why Panduraju died but can be handled in different way without losing the essense. | ||

I tell my kids that they alone are responsible for their actions and God helps those who help themselves. But that doesn't mean they are gonna win all the time. | ||

Believers: Content in this thread may be sensitive to some of you. So use your discretion to participate Mee kids ki GOD/Belief system gurinchi em chebutaaru? Do you tell them what you believe (that there is no god) or you teach them both sides of the story and then let them decide when they are ready? When ever i try to teach my 4 year old about Ramayana, maha bharath type stories... i was not convinced my self about many things. So i keep wondering about 'what if she asks those 'valid' questions/doubts'? When i am not satisfied with the answers that our sacred texts offer, how can i convince my kid abt them? Sometime i feel like changing the story a little to make it more meaningful (at least for this gen) but then what is point? For ex, we both were watching animated 'sri krishna' movie. She started asking, "why is he(kams) killing those new born babies? Why is god not saving them? why didn't krishna born first so that he can kill kams with his super powers.. that way all those small babies won't die" she didn't want to watch the movie after that saying it is very scary that is just one example. same case with ramayan/bharath Why bother, let's teach them that there is no god. you are responsible for your own actions. So be good and do good. ante better emo anipistundi And then immediately another thought comes - what if she starts saying 'no god' stuff at school with friends/teachers. Even non-catholic schools may not welcome such discussions... so it will be confusing So atheist parents, wt do u do? i am sure you must have gone through such phase. |
