Happened to watch GJG 2nd show @ Prasadz. After the word of mouth & hype in the DB, was a bit skeptical abt the final outcome, but happy to inform tht the movie almost reaches the hype. Romcoms are a rage in Hollywood. Always felt tht similar ones cud b tried out here. We hav many 'Romantic Entertainers' but not 'Romantic Comedies' coz they again followed our typical templates. Good thing in GJG is tht the entire plot focuses solely on Romance with comedy intertwined to supplement the same & nt as an artificial separate track. Looked like this was inspired by a score of romcoms frm Hollywood but wit a Gud touch of nativity. 1st half was entertaining wit a great interval bang. 2nd half was slightly slow but ended decently. Cast: Nitin was good. But diction & dialouge delivery were as it is. Nitya was at her expressive best. Support cast was great except for the 2nd heroine who started off great but was made to look a joker by the end. Negatives - while the novelty, screenplay & cast were great, songs cud hav been better along with other technical aspects. Jwala Dutta looked horrible. Drag in second half and main cast's POVs seem cliched post interval. Comparos wit Ishq?? Ishq is more classy with brilliant cinematography & great music. There was more chemistry between lead pair there thanks to the plot. But story novelty in GJG is better. Overall, Ishq edges ahead. Final: A warm & entertaining Romcom. But definitely not upto hyped level of Movie of the Year. 3.5 / 5 |
