YSR Congress party legislator and former mines minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy on Saturday gave a bumper offer to Telugu Desam Party leaders on the controversial Bayyaram iron mines in Khammam district. âThe TDP leaders are making a false propaganda that the value of Bayyaram iron ore mines was 14 lakh crore rupees. Let them pay Rs 7 lakh crore and take away the mines,â Srinivasa Reddy challenged. He claimed that it was he who had cancelled the Bayyaram mining leases given to Rakshana Steels. Meanwhile, the attempt by the TDP and Telangana Rashtra Samithi to create big controversy over handing over iron ore mines at Bayyaram to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was thwarted on the day one itself. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday told a delegation of the TDP leaders that though the iron ore mines were allotted to the Vizag Steel Plant, the ore would not be shifted to Visakhapatnam and instead, the VSP itself would set up a steel plant at Bayyaram. âThe government orders clearly state that the steel plant would be set up locally. The TDP and the TRS have unnecessarily tried to create unrest in the state,â Congress leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said. Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka also said the government would set up both iron ore refinery as well as steel plant at Bayyaram. âNever did the government say that the iron ore would be shifted to Visakhapatnam,â he said. |
