Japan funded Buddhist circuit project dropped in UP - Chiranjeevi NEW DELHI: Government has decided to "drop" the Japanese funded Rs 396-crore Buddhist Circuit development project in Uttar Pradesh fearing its continuation of would have ...an adverse impact on environment. Replying to a query in the Lok Sabha today, Tourism Minister K Chiranjeevi said a loan agreement was signed by the government with Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) on March 31, 2005 for implementation of phase II of Baudh Paripath Project or UP Buddhist Circuit Development Project at a total cost of about Rs 396 crores. After inspection of some of the project sites in July 2012, JICA had conveyed that the ground realities have changed since the signing of the loan agreement in 2005 and that continuation of the project would not be possible since implementation of the project would require compliance under a different category. In view of the observation of JICA, it has been decided to discontinue and drop the UP Buddhist Development Project, Chiranjeevi said in the written reply. Chiranjeevi is my God! Chiranjeevi approves tourism project in Kerala Union Tourism Minister K. Chiranjeevi has approved Central Finance Assistance (CFA) to the tune of Rs. 47.62 crore for development of back water circuit in Alappuzha in back water region as a ...mega circuit in Kerala. The project will involve construction of house boat terminals at Arookutty, Thaneermukkom, Pallathuruthy, Nedumudi, Kanjipadam, Thottappally and Kaymkullam; night halt terminals at Vattakayal West and Karumadi Vilakkumaram; development of micro destinations at VayamkaraChira, Pandy, Thazhuppu and Kuthiravattomchira; development of beaches at Arthukal and Thottappally and development of Alappuzha town as the central destination of the circuit. An amount of Rs. 2.38 crore has been released as first installment of the CFA as an advance for starting the work. The Kerala Government shall make land for the project available free of cost and also render all possible assistance for completion of the project in time. Plans to develop Kochi, Bhoothathankettu and Kappad: Chiranjeevi Plans are afoot to develop tourism addresses such as Kochi, Kappad beach and Bhoothathankettu, Union Tourism Minister K. Chiranjeevi said on Monday. He was here to inaugurat...e the 50th edition of the Thrissur Pooram Exhibition. He said his ministry had approved a package of Rs.47.62 crore for developing the backwater circuit of Alappuzha. It involves construction of houseboat terminals at Arookutty, Thaneermukkom, Pallathuruthy, Nedumudi, Kanjipadam, Thottappally and Kayamkulam; night halt terminals at Vattakayal West and Karumadi Vilakkumaram; and development of micro-destinations at VayamkaraChira, Pandy, Thazhuppu and Kuthiravattomchira. The Ministry has sanctioned Rs. 22.5 crore and Rs. 1.5 crore for developing Kochi and Thumboormozhi. Rs. 24 lakh had been allocated for an international drum festival, he said. Chiranjeevi is my God!
