Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu appears to be going all out to crush the career of Junior N T Rama Rao both in films and politics, apparently with an apprehension that the latter might turn out to be a thorn in the flesh of his son Lokesh Naidu in politics. Even as the reports of the TDP ranks staying away from NTR’s function in Vijayawada kicked up a lot of heat and dust, there was a special story in a popular television channel on Monday night which was repeated on Tuesday morning as well. This story was about how success in film industry had gone to the head of NTR and how he considers himself the most charismatic leader after his grandfather, legend actor N T Rama Rao. The special story went on to criticise NTR for keeping away from TDP at a time when Naidu was toiling day and night through his padayatra and for not attending Mahanadu which was held in Hyderabad, as he used to do in the past. It made a scathing attack on the ambitious nature of NTR. Inquiries revealed that the special story was not done by the channel by itself; but was commissioned by a TDP leader. He had apparently bought the half an hour time slot at a high cost to air the story running down NTR. Obviously, the TDP president is under the impression that if NTR becomes active in politics, there would be no future for Lokesh! |
