Did no-trust move backfire on YSRC? The defeat of no-trust motion moved against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in the state assembly is said to have done more damage than benefit to the YSR Congress party, according to some analysts. Though the YSR Congress party has been able to damage the Telugu Desam Party to some extent by projecting it as a protector of the Kiran government, it has also lost some image by toeing the line of Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the assembly. The party had no choice but to support the TRS whose notice was accepted by the Speaker as it was the TRS which had given the notice first. As a result, it has led to the impression that the YSR Congress party was following the TRS agenda; and that led to some negative talk among the people in the coastal Andhra region. Secondly, it was the YSR Congress party, rather than the ruling Congress, which had to face a strong attack from all the parties in the assembly. Even the TRS, whose motion the YSR Congress party had followed, spent more time on attacking Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for stalling the Telangana statehood. This has further weakened the YSR Congress party in the Telangana region as well. On the whole, the YSR Congress party has achieved nothing much from the no-trust motion and its hue and cry for pulling down the Kiran government has only ended in a whimper, say analysts.
