Visa on Arrival Scheme Registers A Growth of 54 Percent During the month of February 2013, a total number of 1,947 Visa on Arrival(VoA) were issued as compared to 1,259 VoAs during the month of February 2012, registering a growth of 54.6%. The following are the other important highlights of VoAs issued during February, 2013 : ⢠During the period January-February 2013, a total number of 3,637 VoAs were issued as compared to 2,618 VoAs during corresponding period of 2012 registering a positive growth of 38.9%. ⢠The number of VoAs issued under this scheme during February 2013 for nationals of the eleven countries were Japan (874), New Zealand (286), Indonesia (246), the Philippines (197), Singapore (171), Finland (110), Cambodia (18), Luxembourg (18), Vietnam (17), Myanmar (8) and Laos (2). ⢠The number of VoAs issued under the Scheme January-February 2013 were Japan (1403), New Zealand (653), Indonesia (427), the Philippines (406), Singapore (357), Finland (277), Cambodia (35), Vietnam (33), Luxembourg (29), Myanmar (14) and Laos (3). ⢠During the period January-February 2013, the highest number of VoAs were issued at Delhi airport (2123) followed by Mumbai (792), Chennai (513) and Kolkata (209). As a facilitative measure to attract more foreign tourists to India, the Government launched the âVisa on Arrivalâ (VoA) Scheme in January 2010 for citizens of five countries, viz. Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand and Singapore, visiting India for tourism purposes. The Government extended this Scheme to the citizens of six more countries, namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Laos and Myanmar in January 2011. He added, "This is a matter of concern for all of us in the Ministry. Our endeavour is to increase India's share to 1% of the World Tourist Arrivals by 2016".

India shines at ITB Berlin 2013 with its creative theme "Find what you Seek" India has been receiving huge response at this year's ITB Berlin. ITB is one of the largest international events in which the Ministry of Tourism participates on a very large scale. This year an area of 870 sq. mtrs has been taken for the India Pavilion. The theme of the creative's being used in the India Pavilion at ITB Berlin 2013 is "Find what you Seek" which highlights the fact that India as a tourist destination has something to offer for everybody. "Find What You Seek" is the second phase of the Incredible India campaign. A total of 58 participants from India are attending ITB. These include 12 State Governments and 46 Travel Agents / Tour Operators / Hotels / Airlines. The States of Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal will be represented by their Tourism Ministers at ITB Berlin 2013. As in previous years, complementary space is being provided to the North-Eastern states within India Pavilion for showcasing their tourism potential. The Indian Union Tourism Minister Dr K Chiranjeevi has said that the recent decision of the Government of India to lift the restriction of the two month gap on re-entry of foreign nationals coming to India on a tourist visa will encourage more tourists to visit India. Addressing a gathering of tour operators at International Tourism Bourse at Berlin, Germany on March 8 Union Tourism Minister Dr K Chiranjeevi said Germany is one of the India's most important tourist markets. Chiranjeevi said the number of tourist arrivals from Germany has witnessed a substantial increase over the last few years. India eyeing to increase share of World Tourist Arrivals to increase to 1% by 2016, said Indian Union Tourism Minister at ITB Berlin Indian Union Tourism Minister Dr K Chiranjeevi who is on a five-day visit to Germany to attend the ITB Berlin 2013 showed concern regarding the less number of foreign tourist arrivals to India. Inauguarting India pavilion at International Tourism Bourse (ITB) at Berlin, Germany Dr K Chiranjeevi said, the foreign tourist arrivals to India constitute only 0.64% of the World Tourist Arrivals and foreign exchange earnings account for 1.61% of the World Tourism Receipts. The tourism Minister said, while being committed to the growth of tourism, we are aware about the issues of cleanliness, hygiene and sustainability. India has evolved itself as a round the year destination, said Chiranjeevi at Indian Pavilion inauguration at ITB Berlin 2013 Highlighting India's potential as a global tourist destination at the ITB Berlin, Union Tourism Minister Dr K Chiranjeevi said today India has evolved itself as a round the year destination. He said, "Our effort is to consolidate on our well developed cultural and heritage products and develop new niche products like rural tourism; wellness and medical tourism; adventure and wildlife tourism; film tourism; monsoon tourism; golf, polo and sports tourism and MICE tourism." He said this during the inauguration of India pavilion at International Tourism Bourse (ITB) at Berlin, Germany. he said "Germany is an important source market for India. During the year 2011, over 240 thousand German tourists visited India and we are looking forward to further increasing the tourist traffic between the two countries." The Minister is on a five-day visit to Germany.
