Watched the movie yesterday. Timangshu Malik is one hell of a story teller. It one of those complex plots showing royalty with all the murky subplots where Secks is a weapon in a game of chess. The performances were great! Not a single unnecessary character. Irrfan Khan rocked as usually. Jimmy Shergill was a surprise package and looked every bit of the ambitious prince. Mahi Gill as the wayward drunkard wife in those sarees was hot! Soha Ali khan seemed to play herself - A royal princess. And the dialogues deserve a special mention. Oflate we see in the latest Hindi movies where swearing is a fad. This is one of those rare neo classics where a simple statement would hurt and drive home the point more than any gaali. Climax seemed a bit rushed and a few of the twists cliched, but nothing would stop this movie frm being one of the best of 2013. There is no hero or villain. You would end up being confused whom to root for eventually. The lines between good and bad so blurred tht even magnifying glasses wouldnt help. Really great to see some of the Hindi directors coming up with great cinema using the flawed Indian backgrounds giving them a raw earthy feel. Hatsoff to tbem and at the same time embarassed to see TFI quality in comparision. Just watch it. P.S. Didnt watch the original Sahib Biwi and hence found this to be all the more intriguing. |
