Contract is not a realistic dark moody film like the earlier films. Also the protagonist is not from the underworld. It’s more in the genre of a Rambo kind of film but packaged in a very rustic and realistic setting. The scenes and characters are designed to create a slightly tongue-in-cheek entertainment. | ||

There is more good news in store for the die-hard fans of the Ram Gopal Varma school of filmmaking (especially SATYA and COMPANY) as 18th July will see Varma batting on his home turf; the underworld. Yes, we are obviously referring to CONTRACT, where Ramu tackles the hitherto unexplored underworld-terrorism nexus, as we had told you a while back (May- Underworld becomes terrorist conduit!). Those who have seen the rushes of the film swear that Ramu is back to peak form with CONTRACT, and that too with newcomers like Prakash Purandare and Sakshi Gulati etc. Contrary to postponement rumors, CONTRACT is all set to hit the screens on schedule, along with Shahid-Vidya's KISMAT KONNECTION. After ‘Satya’ and ‘Company’, Ram Gopal Varma completes his trilogy of the underworld films with ‘Contract’. In 1998, Ramu gave us the inside view of the underworld with Satya . In 2002, he explored the workings of the underworld, its nuts and bolts, in Company . And now, the maverick director completes his trilogy with Contract which is about the nexus of the underworld and terrorism. The movie doesn’t feature any established stars, but introduces newcomers. Adhvik Mahajan as Aman: He is a man who chooses to make himself and his life into a mission. Prasad Purandare as Ahmad Hussain: He is the chief of a special cell Mumbai police. His right hand doesn't know what his left hand is doing. His deadpan face hides a wolf's brain. Sumeet Nijhawan as RD: The maverick gangster who is responsible for the unholy marriage of underworld and terrorism. What makes him very dangerous is that he is still a kid at heart. Sakshi Gulati as Iya: RD's sister who falls in love. The question is whether she loved the man or the man's name? Zakir Hussain as Sultan: A self- proclaimed guiding light, the messiah of mayhem, an agent of annihilation. Kishore Kadam as Dara: Mumbai's top encounter cop. A megalomaniac who relishes killing. Upendra Limaye as Goonga: After RD emerged the winner in the turf wars of Mumbai underworld, Goonga is forced into a watery exile. Goonga lives on a yacht to hide and survive in the desperate hope of killing RD one day. The story of ‘Contract’ is written by Prashant Pandey. The movie has music by Amar Mohile, Sanaa and Bapi-Tutul. The film is set to release on July 18. |
