FF,
Tried foie gras in Paris - did not like it and did not know the process behind it

I am sure animal rights activists would be up in arms if a live animal is force fed that way...

you were going to give me an update :-) email is anand.nirmal at yahoo dot com ...

Film_fan:

The weird or bad thing about it is when i heard how its made/produced....They stuff goose with food sometimes pushing food into their mouth with sticks....they stuff them so much that their liver becomes big like baloon and then cull them to take out their liver to serve.......(dont know the technicality of this lever getting swollen)

babai...do the laws allow to torture the goose like dat?
will it be fed when its alive or dead?
rabbit meat is pretty common in most places....

Foie gras.......

goose liver....it may not be weird as its very famous in france....I ate on my trip to france on 1999.....

It tasted good and goes well with wine.

I was told this by someone who served me this.....later found the same kind of theory on web.......

even now whenever any of my collegues goes to paris...i request them to get some.....we do get it here in supermarkets but somehow....Carrefour's foie gras taste better.....

one more thing....it goes very well with a french baquette as well......

the next most weirdest thing (for me) was on the same trip..... smoked rabbit meat on a toast.....not very tasty.....had to wash my mouth for the next 15 mins.....
