Investments - development anedhi - it is a different issue. regulated Investments and Services will usually bring in all round development. but the article was about -Is it a CM / a single person who is responsible for Investments? And the answer is obviously NO....as the stats and the history has shown.... |

Dada:There was significant Investments during that time especially after 2002.....
it raises another debate whether investment leads to progress & inclusive dev or not? if Q is whether investment depends on CM or not. i dont give too much credit to individual for that.
Dada:Ground reality ni evvaru choodatam ledhu....and everyone wants to believe in the wave created by the media
If i were a politician, i would have done same by projecting rosy picture.. but media and educated individual should play their part in this game. Future is not to be predicted.. It is to be created... |

Boston_baba:
There was significant Investments during that time especially after 2002..... But the problem is politicians try and ride a wave and claim success for that.....and on the other hand, when they are responsible for wrong actions, they never claim responsibility. And it is the bureaucracy and officials who play a bigger role than the CM himself. So as you said - Ground reality ni evvaru choodatam ledhu....and everyone wants to believe in the wave created by the media |

Dada:Singur is a classic case in point
TATAs wanted it to be in singur till last minute, only when they come to terms with it that, its impossible they looked for other options (Guj and elsewhere). if Guj is so-investor friendly, it shud have been the first choice. Future is not to be predicted.. It is to be created... |

Rock:ap gone to dogs paid article
That is the point I am trying to make....not just about AP....but the difference between the perception created and the actual ground reality.... In 2011 WB was on a wave called change.......and the result has been disastrous for a state already in disaster. |

On the list of actual foreign investment for 2011, in fact, Gujarat slips to No. 3 in the rankings, with Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh gaining traction. Karnataka and Jharkhand replace West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. Investments in 2011 (actual) The proposed was much much higher Maharashtra- Rs. 4671 Cr AP - Rs.2439 Cr Gujarat - Rs.2148 Cr Karnataka - Rs.890 Cr AP lo perception is - the state has come to a standstill....nothing is moving...there is no leadership in the state at all..... A state in Western India - the perception is - that is the most developing part of the world...and has a dynamic leader... And both states have done well....despite the huge difference in public perception..... } |

Between 1992 and 2008, a substantial period of 16 years, the top five states where FDI made its way were Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, in that order. While Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh were expected in the top five, the surprise entries were UP and Bengal. During that period, UP was going through the Mandal-Mandir churn of identity politics and uncertain coalition governments, while West Bengal was under the Left party rule — factors which should have discouraged investment in these states. "This proves very clearly that political leadership is completely irrelevant to holding on to investment or, at the very best, it is of transient interest to investors," says economist Bibek Debroy. "What really matters is that the senior bureaucracy should be stable and efficient in dealing with business. These numbers basically reflect that. The chief minister of a state is less important as a factor." Besides, of course, the fact that West Bengal was embarking on its own version of perestroika under Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, the then CM |
