the only direct use of quantum computing is that "if" one can come up with a quantum search algorithm or equivalently an algorithm that is turing complete, given the addditional dimesions (compute and storage) one can scour the search space in polynomial time making currently a subset of NP complete and NP hard problems, polynomial time bound.... Nothing less nothing more...the If is a mammoth if....and there are only few places who are spending energies on building quantum machines...even if built to function efficiently, the physics of the devices is insanely complex to even mend it to even easy problems | ||

gaming fan, I didnt mean to counter your claims...the issue is that you are implying that storing a certain encoding scheme is tantamount to computing it which is not true.....the true power quantum computing (if acheivable which I think is atleast a 100 years away) is that one can use the quibit to encode massive reams of data onto a size manageable by atomic devices...so its a one way causation...i.e a fully working efficient quantum computer (cause) will make storing Gene data much easier and tenable with out fancy encoding(effect)...the converse of the above implication is not true and is actually nonsensical.... Unlimited data is a myth..and a scientific impossibility....even quantum computers are hypothesized on the fact that one can use the electron exit levels of certain atomic conglemorates to represent a "quantum" bit...Inoroder to represent infinite memory using a quibit schema,one needs to slow down the electron cloud to a stand still....i.e fix completely the position of the orbitals which when coupled with heisenberg uncertainity implies that one cant even locate the momentum of the electron cloud....which makes it a quantum impossiblity.... the invariant in all classical quantum mechanical systems is heisenberg.... | ||
