1. You dont need SSN to apply for EAD 2. EAD Application process is same for every one - Same Application - Just the CAtegory changes. Simple process. One page application First Get EAD then you can get a SSN | ||

Once you get EAD go to your local SSn office with passport and EAD and apply for SSN.

dependents of H1 are not allowed to work. I think its same for L2. you just can't get EAD without applying for green card. even if you apply for the process, it will take anywhere b/w 2-4 yrs for you to get EAD. I have visited US for 5 times before on B1 (for short visits), but am currently on long term assignment for last 6 months. B/w what is GC (you mean Green Card). If so, then how are dependents of L1 or H1 working is USA. Is there a way out for L2 to apply for EAD | ||

you don't need SSN to apply for EAD, you'll get SSN only after you get EAD. I don't know if L2's have EAD process. EAD process is only for people applying for GC, this is a step before you get actual GC. You have to apply for Tax-ID while filing for taxes.. BTW, how long you've been in US? Friends, My wife has come to the USA on L2 visa (I hold L1 A). She needs to apply for EAD. Have gone to apply for SSN number, but they declined saying only if she has an employee letter, they can issue one to her. Have few questions which needs clarification: 1. Is Social security number required to apply for EAD ? 2. What is the process for EAD ? Where and to whom should I contact for ? 3. What is Tax ID ? I do not have one...Is this required for SSN or EAD ? Inputs from all quarters is much appreciated  |
