I had been watching Indian cricket's poor form especially against Pak. The likes of Gavaskar never dominated ODIs. Losing ODIs was norm until we saw a hope in the form Sachin. It's not the winning form but the moral of over all team raised. We started believing in ourselves. That confidence can just be attributed to one gentelman known as Sachin. Bravo man... you have rewritten the cricket books not just for India but for the entire world. Records are meant to be broken but not the will power. The county never forgets your long service to the game of cricket. | ||

This defines how much people are knowledgeable about the game, and also how much they cared for Indian cricket in the last 2 decades. Indian cricket has been a one man game for last 23 yrs, in terms of interests, expectations, wins, losses, centuries, statistics, charisma and opposition. All sums up to one word - Sachin. I am glad he hung up his boots, he served long enough, to erode down and fade out of ODI's. Some people say he plays for himself, some say he plays for the team, but am I glad he just plays. The purest batsman would come close to Sachin in my generation. The gentle cricketers rub shoulders with him. YES - I am proud to say that I watched cricket and lived in the era when Sachin walked out to bat and a nation of billion people shut off their lives and turned on the television. And why do I see even today when he walks down the ground to take guard, the same cherubic enthusiasm of youth, to score and score. He is never Mr Dependable, but I watched cricket for him and in his runs I built and cherished my youthful memories. Ciao Sachin, Ciao to ODIs ! I am not sure whether we can comment on him or not but he dragged himself too far in the cricket world. Every one would agree that he is greatest player india has ever produced. But But he lost his steam in late 90s itself. I remember sachin was striving to get 100 on one of minnow teams to get back on to the form after 1999 cup. In 2003 world cup he got into the form but later he failed in bringing team to winning line. He was never considered mr dependable. At the end it is like wooo man when will he retire?. For me sachin had retired long back from criket.
