Ridgefield is towards Stamford.. little far from our place. ivala poddunne instead of bus i dropped my kid personally. All the teachers, principal are welcoming parents and kids (allowing only kids into school) and a uniformed officer standing and greeting. It was little uneasy but everyone is trying to cheer up after a painful weekend | ||

chala high emotions since Friday. Anywhere only one topic. Everywhere possible there are mass prayers and groups gathered. From our front we gathered (about 60 plus people) and did Vishnu sahasranama parayanam for the peace of departed souls. ninna president visited the place. maa voori townhall lo candle vigil jarigindi. ivala iddariki last rites jarugutaayi. aa incident ayina school permanent gaa mossestarani talk. oka makeshift school ki pillalni pampistaaru. schools annitiki (read parts of email from my kid's school principal) extra security measures started. Dear xxxx Families, The events in Newtown have left us all devastated and reminded of how fragile life is and how blessed we are to have children and to work with children. I wanted to write to you to let you know the measures we have put in place for xxx in response to the Newtown Tragedy. xxxx has classroom door locks ordered and being delivered soon. When he gets the date for installation to me, I will let you know. I have asked the maintenance department to lock our front door at all times. This may cause an inconvenience for some of you, but we will work with that inconvenience because it means we will make the building more secure and it will make all of us feel a greater sense of security as well. You will see a greater presence of teachers this next week with all teachers on morning and afternoon duty. They will be watchful for signs of distress with your children. They will also be watchful and available to you in the event you need to talk with someone. Our social worker and school psychologist will be readily available for parents and children as well. You will notice that the staff across town may be wearing green and white on Tuesday in celebration of children and teachers. There will be police officers stationed at every elementary school tomorrow. The teachers, staff and I promise that we will continue to watch over the well-being of your child. We will do our best to provide them with the routine and 'sameness' they need and we need. I will be meeting with the superintendent and all principals on Tuesday. We will debrief on the events of Friday and be sure we have taken every precaution to ensure the children in town are safe and secure. The teachers and I will review again the procedures for lock-down. This is a drill we practice monthly - sometimes a fire drill, sometimes a lock-down. We will practice these procedures in January. Please don't hesitate to contact me or your child's teacher with any concerns you may have. The entire school staff and I are longing for tomorrow - to be at school with the children we love so very much. They will be the balm that reminds us of all that is good.
