Not just the hardware. It also depends on bios. Bios controls when to turn on/off a fan and at what speed the fan should run. | ||

Nenu 7 lo too much applicaitons install chesha.. adobe photoshop and premier pro. Oracle XE database. Turn off "Aero" on 7 (making it look like XP) and the CPU/fan slows down. No big deal. | ||

fan sound anedi not entirely on OS,depends on what apps you are running ,OS istall chesi kotta ga unte fan sound windows 7 lo kuda raledu naku,it used to boot up in less than 10 secs and very clean, but evaentually application install chesi usage ekkuva ayithe boot time ippudu 45 secs vachindi,sudden ga fan sound peruguthundi.. nothing to do with OS cherapakura chedevu. | ||

So, 300MB is tipping the balance off and forcing the fan to go off? Better not run any more apps on 8 to keep it cool!! I have assembled PCs ground up. The problem is with hardware (insufficient ventilation) for the fan to run constantly. I bet, even if you plain vanilla Linux on it, it would be noisy. No doubt 8 is efficient but issue is hardware to begin with. | ||

daantlo viuntha emundi. What Fafi said probably right. This is probably why - WIndows 7 keeps running a lot of OS background processes even when not required, which forces processor to run fast and hence kick off fan to cool it. On the other hand, Windows 8 runs lesser processes or keep the unnecessary processes at halt state so that processor runs cooler and hence fan kicks off less often. So, what Fafi said is probably right. I also read somewhere that vanilla version of Windows 7 takes about 1100 MB RAM vs windows 8 takes about 800 MB RAM. This explains Fafi's statement. | ||

Whats wrong with what he said. Windows 8 has stripped out all the eye candy glossy interface from the operating. It is plain bright and brilliant. GPU meda less impact. Anduke no gpu fan sound emo. | ||
