There are somethings that should be read in original full length - a summarised version can never do justice ... Yep - we had a long discussion on if and how it could be converted into film about 5 years ago in IBDB
I think its worth reading the book before you see the movie - time unte mundu chadiveyandi - because once you watch the movie the ending you read into the book will get constrained by Ang Lee's interpretation I am willing to make the concession for my younger one cos he is too young to get the philosophy The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet : James Oppenheim | ||

Not that difficult as Cloud Atlas...Cloud Atlas is difficult to make right from the word go because of its multiple, unconnected threads etc. Here only the last few pages of the book are tricky to picturise...don't miss it. Ang Lee can bring the right kind of sensitivity, humanity and eastern religious-philosophical bent that the book deserves... | ||

The last part of the book is the most difficult to film - it delves into magical realism and philosophy and fantasy. The part on the sea is the easier part actually, you can put in some special effects and it is done. The book was an absolute delight though some of my vegetarian friends flinched at the feasts on the boat !!! | ||
