n 1985, the Indian government, with Dutch and British support, initiated the Ganga Action Plan, the last large-scale project to address the Ganges’ pollution. Many consider the Ganga Action Plan a failure, as it built some wastewater treatment plants in certain areas but failed to halt raw waste disposal into the river. The plan’s administration was criticized for misuse of money, lack of technical expertise, and absence of good planning. A new project funded with the World Bank loan will replace the Ganga Action Plan. The 2020 goal of this new project is once again to halt the discharge of untreated wastewater into the river. It will not only build treatment plants but will focus more broadly on regional environmental health and a public education campaign. The clean-up will likely take decades and cost many billions of dollars—much more than the $1 billion initially loaned to the Indian government. At least it is a start for one of the world’s most sacred rivers. No Signature |

Tilak, ------------- Attributing the abuse of Ganga to "Religion" is silly and uninformed. ------------- No one is ABUSING religion. I don't bother WHAT HAPPEND in the PAST. I am looking at current conditions and wants the government to FIX the EXISTING problem and clean up the SACRED river. The pictures are ACTUAL DEPICTION of the conditions and NOT Photo shopped ones proving the EXISTANCE of the severe problem. |

Attributing the abuse of Ganga to "Religion" is silly and uninformed. Hinduism and Hindu practices existed in Kasi/Varanasi since atleast 5000 years. And Ganga was pure and pristine till even the 1960s (there are many pics on the net). Blame the govts that "uneducated" the people .. and looted money in the name of clean-up, while not doing any thing .. not religion .. Xxx:it cannot be done sir
I feel it can. In 2 ways. Bottom top approach where people are educated over and over to stop this nonsense. And top bottom approach, where the govt takes stringent measures. I feel proper leadership is lacking. I am struck by the lightning of love and burnt beyond repair - Florentino Ariza

I want to comment on the Chinese guy's blog post and picture's he has taken. While it INFURIATES us when our enemey (not friend country) points out our faults and our IMMEDIATE reaction would be "Is there country any good?". If we keep the above attitude aside, the PICTURES are genuinue and I can personally vouch for that (unfortunately having visited the place that is in the pictures ie., KASI and saw a DEAD COW floating next to our boat). If we can think rationaly, we need to look at objectively and see HOW MUCH TRUTH is there in the reported article and FIX the problems IF THEY are REAL. For SURE GANGES needs BIG TIME CLEAN UP and restrictions on the RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES to certain areas instead of POLLUTING ENTIRE SACRED RIVER. |

Rujjai: ee angle edho bavundi kotha rakamga.. kaani 40 taruvatha illu koni appudu huge appu teesukunte..appudu pillalu bharam tho kastam kadha...
Wrong approach for places like desam where inflation is so high...if a good 3 bed room apt/house costs 50 laks today, think about what it will be 10 years down the line. It will be impossible for you to buy a home at that point. |

Filmbuff: 1-1.5 lakhs per year lo manchi schools untayi even in Bangalore (like DPS,PSBB,NPS etc). So that is not a big cost. Just ignore the international schools. Avi manaki kadu.. I have cleared my house and car loan. So living in debt-free paradise. As far as basic cost of living goes - take it as Rs25-30K (including my rent of Rs15 k). I take the office shuttle. My petrol bill comes to Rs1000/2000 per month max. Btw,the costs above include school fees. But don't take my costs by heart. I am low maintenance guy. I am probably the last person in my batch to buy a car. But you can comfortably live within Rs30-40 K in India excluding EMIs.
House or Car EMI ni eppudu monthly expenses lo pettakoodadhu as the house will be there for long time House Rent can be put as its more of expense. brother, why are u renting when u have own house? or u live in BLR but have house in HYD No Signature |
