They did sell the bad loans, i am not supporting them in that aspect. They packaged junk loans as AAA rated securities, but the problem is the common man helped them by buying houses he cannot afford. They should be responsible for their actions too, not just blaming other people. I know stories of people why bought 400K homes, while they were making 40K/year. That's up to your broker, and the local bank. Your broker should be your friend, that's how it worked in the old days. They used to look after the client and tell him what he can afford and not. All wall street guys did was package these junk loans into AAA rated securities. If people were smart and stopped buying house, the spigot would have been cut off. It's all relative. They "produce" for their clients. If the clients get rich, they get rich. everybody benefited when the stock market soared. People were happy looking at their 401k's everyday. These questions should have been asked then. There is lot of talent in the industry. How they use that talent is a different story. Wall street guys did not tell people to buy homes they couldn't afford. It's easy to blames those guys for all the evils in the society. Printing money by the Federal reserve and keep interest at 0.25% is also wall street guys plan. Everyone played their part in 2008. Just to blame one group is wrong. I am ok for people making more than $1 million to pay more taxes. Any tax increase for middle class people is not good. No one knows for sure what tax bracket might be affected by the new taxes.
