what do you by hexnumber for licence? How can letter say "M" represented in hexadecimal format? on the side lines why is he doing inversion of bits? I dont think its required for license plates.  | ||

yes. by default it is decimal. you need to override it to get hex number. i think that cout is just for debugging. looks like jamana old code. real usage is in hex number for license(who knows ?). you can display it in any integral value. all that this piece of code does is generating an unique hex number. i am sure you must be having a reason to generate unique number in your appln. may be license number. there are other ways to generate unique hex number which is used in license numbers you don't have to worry about this code. if you still need here u go. all posts here does answer your question . adding to it time_t currT; type time_t from time.h is same as data type "int" (4 byte or 8 byte) in behaviour. you assign int, long values to a time_t variable,and vice versa. time(&currT); time(NULL) function returns the number of seconds that have passed since midnight, 1st January 1970 GMT .
