For photoshop AMD had little advantage,but it doesn't matter whichever card you choose,if you are going for high end GPU go for nvidia.
Yes.If you are asking about adobe products. Moreover they made sure that they support openCL rather than CUDA. CS5 nvidia as it have cuda. There is not much of a difference. If you are looking for good physX and gaming performance go for NVIDIA,it also have better driver support also 3D features(3D vision technology). If you are looking only for video playbacks go for AMD. Nvidia had good driver support for linux. Whereas coming to AMD its power consumption is less for the same performance at the level of nvidia. If cost is not an issue and if you are looking for powerful graphics then the high-end graphic cards are always manufactured by nvidia. AMD drivers are always buggy. Coming to the shaders it all depends on how they are clocked,here I go with nvidia but at the end of the day they both give the same performance.If you are overclocking then nvidia cards give better performance. AMD driver support is poor,whereas nvidia updates it's drivers frequently. AMD uses anisotropic filtering(for performance and optimization)with the help of angle-independent algorithm. Nvidia has better anti-aliasing options while you are playing DX10 games such as battlefield 3,NBA 2K13,FIFA13 etc,also have CUDA support. Nvidia:With cuda support you can programme yourself the card with some math functions and programming,boosting it's performance. AMD is better at performing at lower power,whereas nvidia easily gets hotter and uses lot of power. Cost:AMD beats nvidia,hands down. AMD is more efficient. If you are looking for low end cards go for AMD(less cost),if it is otherway around(high end cards),go for nvidia,if you are looking for the mid range cards it's upto you to decide. If cost is not an issue nvidia all the way. AMD have lot of driver issues(chronic),this is where nvidia beats AMD. At the end of the day it depends on the customer to select the product wisely depending on his needs. NVIDIA PROS: Good performance. CUDA support. Better physx. Better driver support. Cons: Costly. Uses high power consumption. AMD PROS: Good performance. Low cost. Uses less power consumption. Efficient. Cons: Bad drivers support.
