When Bond opted for an ICL contract he took a no objection nod from his board. But later when BCCI introduced IPL to subside ICL, they came with the policy of banning those who are part of ICL and forced all other teams to follow by its bullying tactics. thus Bond's international career effected with this. Agree they played diff era. If Martin is best NZ batsman in his era so is Astle. I still remember before the start of 96 world cup, The magazine sports star has issued a cover story 3 best batsman to watch for. one is brian lara.. second sachin tendulkar and third is Astle.. Astle is average? dude, Are u kidding? Astle has 16 ODI centuries 41 half centuries scored 7090 runs. Where as crowe 4 centuries and 34 half centuries. u say Astle is average and crowe is greatest. Nash like Bond, one of the more injury prone bowlers and succumbed his career to them. Otherwise he is one of the finest bowler I saw. I remember the one instance in LB stadium where Sachin struggling against him who is almost unplayable to him though he is scoring runs against others.
