Manufacturers deliberately add/remove features to differentiate products at different levels to justify the pricing. We have focus points ranging from 11 to 39 to 51 in various models. You need to keep that in mind while framing an object. The other approach is, since D600 has decent 24MP sensor, go wider and always crop your pictures so the object is always in focus. | ||

D300s is/was highest consumer model (DX), so got the 51 points. D600 is entry level prosumer model (FX), so crippled with fewer. They have justify the price difference with bigger brother (D800). | ||

yes, it is a good problem. Better than 11 AF points, right? I use D300s (now discontinued) has more (51) AF points than D600 which has 39. It is an upgrade (DX to FX) and downgrade (fewer AF points) at the same time. That's why thinking about D800. | ||

See the review for Canon 6D. Scroll down for comparison with D600. It is comparable with D600. Pros: Wifi, GPS Cons: AF cross points, built-in flash For any serious photographer, 11 point AF vs 39 point AF is deal breaker. For me, built-in flash is important. No matter, how good it performs in low light (with higher ISO), you still need auxiliary light. I do not like to use speedlight (external flash) all the time. JMO. | ||
