That is, if this deal goes through. Producer Hansraj Saxena, ex-CEO of SunTV and Sun Pictures, has reportedly offered a Rs 240-crore deal to Rajinikanth for a Tamil film. He is an independent producer now, producing films like Charulatha and Shivani. But when he helmed SunTV, he had the business acumen and foresight to trade Robot for more than Rs 130 crore, proving the existence of an expanding market for Rajini’s films. Rajini’s brand equity, in Saxena’s assessment, seems to have almost 'doubled', going by the numbers he is now ready to fork out. He has asked Rajini to grant him dates for 30 days to wrap up the big-budget entertainer he has in mind for which he is even thinking of roping in Gen-X Tollywood star Ram Charan Tej and thereby recover the cost of such a mammoth film. It is a huge pay packet, and, according to a source, 'Rajini sir is taking his time to decide'. The amount invested will affect the fortunes of distributors from the Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada-speaking regions, apart from overseas, where it’s likely to be traded for unheard of prices and reach hitherto unknown heights in box office collections. Having a Gen-X star will reduce the risk involved in marketing a big-budget production and making it multi-lingual will act as a buffer for the investments ploughed in. If this information is true Rajini would cost Saxena a whopping Rs 8 crore a day, thus putting Rajini in the league of many A-list Hollywood stars.
