Weekends are fun... But one fine weekend, she had office. I logged in from home that day just to stay in touch with her all day. The day had almost ended for everyone, and just before she started back from office, in response to my - "Dating with boyfriend?" question during some conversation, she pinged me back saying - "You only da". I was shocked to death. I knew she was kidding. But somehow, I could not resist the joy that came from thinking of a date with her. On her way back, she even texted me about having a Candle light dinner. Though I did not date her in the end, just the thought of going on a date with her was thrilling. They started selling tender coconuts in our canopy. One morning when I was totally involved in my work, she pinged me if I could take her to canopy and get her tender coconut. She was not feeling well that day. I said we will go sometime later since I was in the middle of something. Then somehow I kept on postponing it and finally around 3 in the afternoon, she pinged me back saying she was not feeling well and that I did not care about her. She was pissed off. At almost leaving time, I went after her, consoled her and bought her the tender coconut. I started feeling the lovely lady's closeness towards me. She silently drank it while I kept staring at her eyes. I had started to feel about her. I also accompanied her till the place where our shuttles were parked, left her there and came back since I had some work to do. But she got down from the shuttle and came back to my desk along with Praneeth triggering a hell lot of questions in my mind. She is not feeling well. But just because I stayed back to work, knowing that I cannot spend time with her, why did she have to come back? Powerful imagination can beat reality |

Peter Answers... a website that can help you fool anyone if you are good at typing. I tried this at Priya in our evening shuttle. She asked a couple of questions, and got correct answers. She looked amazed. On her behalf, I asked Peter about her latest crush. In a flash came the answer - "Karthik Chakravarthy". I could type it completely deceiving her. Her reaction turned things on in my till then uninteresting life. She looked puzzled, at the same time; she looked pretty, very pretty indeed. The innocent look on her face was far beyond that of a new born baby. Her reaction made me realize that I should not be fooling her again and again like I did till then. I started to like her more. She looked quite different with that innocent bubbly look on her face. Powerful imagination can beat reality |

I do not exactly know when, but she had started messaging me. I do not know if she did the same with everyone else as well. I started chatting with her regularly on mobile and I used to totally enjoy it. Before I realized, I started talking about her a lot. I told about her to my sister, my cousin, my friends etc., One friend of mine even warned me “Dude, it starts like this with everyone. Do not get carried away just because Shankar or some guy teases you. What matters is whether or not you like her and not someone else telling you like her” We all had become so close that we wanted to spend as much time as possible with each other. So, people planned to have breakfast together. But I was in a soup because I used to till then go with my team for breakfast and could not leave that group as well. Hence, I came up with a rule. Breakfasts on Friday and lunch on Monday with the shuttle gang. During our breakfast, she had one regularly used word - "Dappa ago" meaning "gain weight". I once asked her - "What will I get if I gain weight?” I did not get the expected answer. Powerful imagination can beat reality |

It was my birthday. Praneeth had got a plum cake and I cut it in the morning shuttle itself. It was good considering that I never expected it. But the real emotional moment was when Sharanya called everyone for a "Coffee with B'day boy" at around 10:30. I felt too lucky to have such caring friends. I had come out of my reserved character and had made friends, real caring friends. This itself was a great Birth day gift. I thanked everyone. Later in the day, as usual, she just came to my desk and wished me again. She even reminded few of my team colleagues that it’s my birthday and ordered them to wish me. She never used to be so commanding if it were Krish or Giri or Praneeth. And once she left, I had to answer many questions from all my teammates as to what was really going on between us. There was really nothing. Not yet at least. Powerful imagination can beat reality |

She started coming to my desk very often. She never did the same with Krish or Giri. I thought I had become closer to her than the others. Once I introduced her to my Scrum Master Shankar. Shankar got a little too excited to see a girl at my desk. He told her - "Oh... You are Priya? Sanath was chanting your name when we went to outbound. He could not sleep entire night". I stopped him from continuing. It was unreal anyways. And even at this point, I did not have any feelings for her. Forget about outbound, she had not even entered my life then. But she did not have anything to say or ask about it. She just giggled again and left the place. Shankar is one person who keeps asking the same again and again. After all, he is one victim of a successful love marriage. So probably her visiting my work place twice a day looked weird to him. Once I had a small tech discussion with Shankar at his desk. We were standing, behind me at a distance stood Anusha at her desk, while Priya was heading towards my desk. Shankar said - "Dude, Priya's coming" in a mocking tone. I said - "Dude, I am more interested in the lady standing behind me and not in Priya, she is just my friend". Soon after I finished my sentence I realized I did not have feelings for Anusha also. It was a crush and that’s it. So I continued saying – “In fact, I am interested in neither one, can we continue our discussion?” But my team started diverting my attention towards Priya; now that they found me less interested in Anusha. Shankar even once said - "Dude, you and Priya make a great pair." Very often I ended up telling them – “For God sake, please stop. She is just my friend”. Powerful imagination can beat reality |

One day in shuttle, I told everyone that I knew handwriting analysis and asked everyone to write something in a sheet of paper and get it the next day. She actually believed me and wrote something on Java. As she handed the paper over to me, I and Giri started laughing at her stupidity. She took it sportively. Even I did not feel guilty of fooling her. But I realized she trusted me with it completely. Another day, we thought of talking about our crushes. I was not comfortable speaking about such things. But when others can do it, I thought even I can. She told about multiple crushes. She also mentioned about a guy named Karthik who was good looking and is doing his higher studies in Australia. I also had one guy called Karthik in my team. We started teasing her for fun linking her with Karthik in my team. Then people turned towards me hoping that I would tell them a solid crush story. I actually did not have any crushes except Anusha, a girl from the neighboring team. But I thought it was not worth mentioning because I did not have anything to say about her. I only admired her. So, I had to bluff about my crushes and was forced to end each of them in a tragedy for otherwise the gang would cook the remaining story themselves. We used to play dumb charades in our shuttle, cards, funny discussions, etc., Every game we played, I used to be her rival. She always used to try and pull my leg in something or the other. I remember her giving some tough words to enact in dumb charades and silently enjoy the play. Days passed and no one wanted to miss the 2 hours journey time from office to home. All six of us somehow tried to leave office at the same time so that we enjoy the transit. If someone missed it, the next day they would ask one question – “Who won yesterday? Was it Sanath or Priya?” Yeah, her name was Priya Powerful imagination can beat reality |

Girls, girls, and girls... What else do boys of my age usually talk about? Every breath, we think about some or the other girl. It was a similar kind of discussion going on between Krish, Praneeth, Giri and me in our 5 o'clock shuttle on the way home after a tiring day at office. At the driver's corner just behind him, there was a young lady sitting alone. We had almost reached our place when Praneeth realized that she was his senior in high school. Krish insisted on not speaking to her that day since he thought she would have heard the entire conversation we had regarding girls and would have a bad impression on us. But thanks to his curiosity, Praneeth went straight to her and introduced himself. She smiled back introducing herself. Seeing the positive reaction from her side, remaining three of us jumped in to introduce ourselves... and this is how it started. I said - "Sanath, pretty famous here", she giggled. My best buddy Krish sensed some danger already seeing me boasting a little. I said - "Come on, just another girl." Then we got down from our bus. She said "Bye" and went ahead of us. The next day she met Sharanya, the only lady in our group and probably felt that our group is a safe one to be with. She started sitting at the back where we sat. She looked simple, fairer than me and actually a bit taller than me. Krish and Giri were always good with girls… they could speak to any girl just like that. I always sucked at it. Even with this lady, many times I wanted to start some conversation and failed at every attempt. Once Sharanya was in some conversation with her, and I heard them uttering my name. I waited for the right moment to enter the conversation.. Sharanya finally gave a splendid context and I pitched in by saying - "Ha ha.. of course I'm the King...Sharanya". For some reason, it again did not help. She giggled and turned back. Few days with us, she had become an integral member of our "gang". Even I could speak to her easily. She became close enough to experience the fun. Powerful imagination can beat reality |
