Ninna maa colony lo - Saar osthara, Poovai poovai, Ringa ringa etc patalu vesadu. If you feel that these songs are deserving a place at the pandal, i can't argue further. But when you say that i can stay away from it, unfortunately i can't. If they are going to blast songs at high volume, i can't stay away. Even if i close all my doors and ears. Objection sustained. My problem is with the fanaticism around this. The recording dance kind of environment around many of these pandals, the cheap songs that are played, the lumpen elements that gather around them, the extortion of money..etc. Whenever we make a mass movement out of these simple functions, they acquire the nature of mass hysteria and attract the worst elements. | ||

Ok...so, is the problem with nimajjanam or the processions? I don't see any problem with "nimajjanams" that happen in villages and small towns....even to this day, almost all of those idols are made from clay...of course, paint vestaru.. hydbad looo koodaa several years ago, rule pettaru...only clay idols vaadali ani...but chala mandi follow avvaru emoo...and those huge idols are also a | ||

Nimmajanam means -to give away - nothing is mine - everything belongs to nature - everything belongs to you. The basic tenet of Sanatana Dharma.... Vinayaka Chavithi being celebrated by people together - is a tradition started by Bal Gangadhar tilak to bring people closer to each other - and forma sense of bonding.... Present day - loud blaring of speakers - drinking liquour and dancing - how much is it justified - is anybody's guess. | ||
