Barely had the govt announced reforms in retail,Insurance (not confirmed),Broadcasting and Airlines, they have gone back on the more important reforms Bailout, but no reform for indebted power distributors. Instead of reforming the distribution companies, the govt has chosen to write off the debts. With loans to power distributors accounting for 4-7 percent of their respective books, Indian Bank , Union Bank of India , Bank of India , Oriental Bank of Commerce and Canara Bank are among those with the highest exposures, according to a report by Bank of America Merril Lynch. |
