Dog walks 500 miles to reunite with owner

Myrtle Beach, S.C. -
A South Carolina man got a pleasant surprise when his dog walked 500 miles to be reunited with him.

Mark Wessells dropped off Buck, which is his 2-year-old Labrador retriever, with his dad in Virginia and returned to his Myrtle Beach home.

However, when Wessells called his father back to check on his four-legged friend, the animal was gone, according to SunNews of Myrtle Beach. Wessells told the newspaper that he was worried the dog had been stolen.

Buck was located in a Carolina forest subdivision about two weeks ago by Brett Gallagher. After checking with neighbors to see if the dog had been reported missing, Gallagher brought it to the veterinarian who found a microchip identifying it as Buck.

In the end, Wessells said he is glad to his best friend back.
