one of the nice comment-- As said by LUOIS DUMONT that very structure of HINDU society is based on hierarchy and inequality, so the caste based inequality and conflicts are bound to happen. Nehru and Ambedkar were not wrong if they wished to eliminate caste system at the time of implementation of constitution. But even after 50-60 years of Constitution we Indians have proved that we are the same.Today neither reservation nor casteism has been wiped out from the society. Reservation would be rational only when it is based on economic status but for what pre-requisite is that other (social) status must be common for all without having concepts such as purity and pollution of caste system. But even myself would contradict my own statement as utopian because caste-varna sytem which is present since civilization came into prominence in India cant be wiped out in a day....................................... MAX WEBER rightly said about Indians that they are culturally double standard, they talk with moral values but practice just opposite to it. | ||
