Conquas:

$NAV

bad news for this company.....

1. CEO Dan Ustian unexpectedly resigned on Monday. There are doubts that the CEO has been ousted by the board after his disastrous engine strategy led to two straight quarters of falling sales and negative profits.

2. first week of the month, the company announced an ongoing SEC inquiry, its intention to cut jobs, an approval for an engine usage from the EPA (the announcement of the fines associated with the usage is still pending).

good news:

1. winning a $1 billion loan from a consortium of banks and most importantly, a change in strategy to use engines manufactured by Cummins in its 8 class trucks, the sales of which will commence next year

2. Chinese government has approved the joint venture license for NAV and Chinese truck maker, Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co. Ltd. (JAC). This will help NAV to grow globally.

these good things will kick in only after some quarters.....

not a byad idea to buy puts or shorting this stock....

option pick:

$NAV ( Buy ITM Oct 20 puts)

Navistar reports next on Sept. 12, and a way to get ahead of another nasty surprise is with a short-term put option. Buy the NAV Oct 20 Puts for $1.50 or less.

NAV is currently trading near $23. A $3 drop to correlate with the $20 strike price on the puts might seem like a stretch, but remember that a lot of factors affect an options price, and a stock doesn’t have to trade at the strike price for the option to turn a profit.

catalyst:

Navistar reports next on Sept. 12...

Navistar International (NYSE:NAV) does manufacture and sell commercial and military trucks, buses, diesel engines, recreational vehicles (RVs) and chassis, as well as related parts. However, business is taking a hit, as analysts have sharply cut estimates, projecting a loss of $1.22. Navistar also has a history of brutal earnings surprises to the downside.

Option Pick:

$FXE (CurrencyShares Euro Trust)

investors can consider buying options on an exchange-traded fund that holds euros, the CurrencyShares Euro Trust (ticker: FXE). Moreover, the advantage of options is that they mitigate the risk of ECB inaction without significantly curtailing potential profits.

With the ETF at $124.91, investors can buy the October $125 call and sell the October $130 call to profit from a five-point rally. (A share in the ETF represents 100 euros.) The options position cost $1.52 and offers investors the potential to make $3.48 if the ETF is $130 or higher at expiration, according to Jim Strugger, MKM Partners' derivatives strategist. Of course, the $1.52 paid for the spread is lost if Draghi disappoints because the euro would likely decline.
