Agreed that himself and his unit hyped the movie very much. Dasavatharam is simple entertainer with above average technical standards. Perfect usage of graphics isn't everyone's cup of tea. Shankar is an expert at that while KS Ravikumar isn't. Scenes with computer graphics represent the money that went in but sans perfection. Also my personal disliking point in the movie is climax where tsunami is shown in a lighter vein. I could not get what Kamal wanted to convey through Tsunami. Church stands still, people in masjid are safe and Lord vishnu's statue comes back but lot of people die. That was very confusing. Ofcourse this time around Kamal tried only to entertain people not to enlighten. Asin suited the role well and so did Mallika. In order of performances Ramanuja's disciple, Cop kamal, Grand mother, Sand communist(or watever), Hero, villain, singer , tall muslim, Bush and Chinese were done well by Kamal. Comedy in second half was good while first half is pacy action with mediocre graphics. The hyped up makeups are also not upto the mark. Most of them look so odd and unnatural. Songs come and go but doesn't add much to the movie, nor do they disturb. As a whole Dasavatharam is a good entertainer if it wasn't hyped up for all wrong reasons it could not live upto. It is no similar to Nava Ratri where each role has a significance. The title Dasavatharam seems just like a long-lasting fantasy for Kamal which he fulfilled or atleast I missed the whole point. |
