Bunty kaka, you are correct. Your 529 plan contributions are made with your after tax money. The initiator's question was on penalties. If you withdraw money from 529 plan for other than educational purposes, you incur a penalty on the plan earnings plus you pay a tax on the earnings. You do not pay any penalty on your contributions. | ||
