Then we would have to question education throughout India. Because this system plagues Indians throughout. I was following the blog journals of expatriates and MNC workers who worked in India. One I remember was Chennai Journal, and another was by some guy named Roy. Lasting a couple of years, both were pretty explicit in the fact that being foreigners were great advantage to them in getting administrative or general things done in India. I remember reading on a Malayalee's blog 5 years ago. As you know, Malayalee's are nearly 100% literate people. One of the community in India that has been going abroad for many years for employment. There was a big blog meeting and one WASP was present. The white guy told him that he felt like a movie star at the meet. Everyone wanted to take a picture with him. I don't think quality of education can cure a lot of people's inner built disease. Educated people, men and women, still ask for dowry. Educated people still don't want girl child. Educated men still torture their wives due to their family. Educated people still follow a lot of archaic and harmful practices in the name of tradition. | ||

Nothing wrong in respecting people from other countries....And I have seen and met quite a few Europeans who know much much more about India than a lot of Indians do. More than saying - why do we bend before others- we should be asking - Why do we not respect ourselves? But typically Europeans know much more and are more proud about their culture than an average Indian is about his / her culture. Also - they steer clear of the distortions - instead of getting attracted towards the distortions (for which they paid a heavy price in the earlier part of the last century) And the political nation called India is too diverse and there is nothing called an Indian culture - It is just too diverse - perhaps if there is something called Indian-ness - then it is JUGAD - a workaround for everything that we excel in. | ||

Do u know that temples were not mere religious structures but social symbols which played a very integral part in the society.
