And more importantly - Do not the companies themselves Oversell thier resources and thier abilities? And the companies recruit people with "client facing skills" rather than good techno -managerial skills Client facing skills - some one who can get along with the client by hook or crook and can assuage the client despite the poor quality of delivery - even encourage the onsite coordinator / PMO to sleep with the Program director from the client. Except CTS and TCS, I have seen every other large SI do this. Maybe the those two (CTS and TCS) also do this - but I cannot comment as I have not worked in those two companies. |

Point taken - This exists everywhere - you need to go to Old Delhi to see how degree certificates are "produced" - Got to Kolkatta - name the University and you will get a Degree Certificate. Infact there are fake univs in North. A colleague of mine - has B.SC, M.Sc, MBA, PG Diploma in IS from a "BARKATHULLAH VISWA VIDYALAYA, Bhopal" -What about it? And does not know the difference between GSM and Copper and is a Senior Strategy Consultant. I have seen many people like this..... Comparitevely, Hyd and the people of Andhra are much more ethical. And more importantly - do you need formal education to be a good programmer? The best (passionate, hard working and creative) programmers I have seen have never gone beyond +2. Anyone with more than 15 yrs experience - the thumb rule is - A good employee who knows what he is doing to a South Indian - and some one who just talks and does not work is a North Indian. - A generatlization which has exceptions - but a generalization which I have found to be accurate 99% of the time |
