thanks.. I dont see a step to move data files from old home to newer one. Purpose is to take a copy of an existing database, and then do an upgrade (not oracle, but application that i am using). So i will have old data base intact while playing with the upgrade. |

simply moving db instances to new oracle home ayithe follow below steps: 1. install new oracle home 2. move listener.ora file from old to new and change home path in the file for instances. 3. change path in oratab file. 4. copy init.ora files from old to new and change path in init.ora files for instances. 5. set new home environment variables for oracle user. 6. login to oracle export SID and then start the db's. let me know what errors you see. Take it easy |

Any oracle experts here? Oracle 11g running on Win 7 at db_home1, this has 4 db instances. All i need to do is to create a new db home db_home2 and copy all the instances to the new db home. I have SQL Developer installed. I tried with online scripts and RMan process, but have issues. so step by step would be better. |
