Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu has already finalized party candidates for 74 assembly constituencies for the 2014 elections and all of them are from backward class communities. According to party leaders, Naidu has been extremely busy in identifying the suitable candidates for the last couple of weeks and has been directly interacting with the probable candidates. âThough he could not fulfill his commitment to give more seats to the BCs, he is keen on doing it this time without succumbing to any pressures. He has promised 100 seats to the BCs and so far, he has completed the selection of 74 candidates,â a party leader said. Most of the selected candidates are being made in-charge of the party in their respective constituencies and in the next one and a half years, they have to tour extensively and strengthen their base. By declaring the candidates well in advance, Naidu wants to avoid the selection of wrong candidates at the eleventh hour, as many of such candidates had ditched the party and jumped into the rival parties later, a party source said.
