Andhra Pradesh police has shocked everyone with their one sided decision about the privacy of women in public. This time a new rule is facing the ire of women activists in Warangal disctrict. As some women wearing scarf around their faces have committed to a couple of crimes in Warangal city, Police have issued orders banning face-veils of girls. They have ordered that college girls and other working women should not wear veils around their face. However, women activists are strongly condemning the acts of Warangal police as barbaric. ‘It is men who do chain snatching kind of stuff by wearing helmets and goggles. Police should ban those things first rather showing indifference to woman‘, says Kathi Padma a women rights activist. She asks how crime rate will come down if women don’t wear veils. Earlier, DGP Dinesh faced the ire of these activists by commenting that skimpy outfits of women are responsible for rape attempts and sexual harrassement on them.
