right - but even that 8-10% itself is a considerable market in a country like India - The Insurance sector was a different game - long gestation periods...too many players etc. But when it comes to citizen services like APSRTC digitization, Muncipalities digitization etc.....these are citizen services - they give employment....plus better services to citizens....and over a period of time if done properly reduce in efficiencies in the public systems.... Couple of important points entate, over time the cost arbitrage is become lesser in IT because of our wage increases, inflation etc. Take the case of BPO for instance, Philippines is now the largest BPO industry in the world in the voice segment. They are yet to pick up in the non-voice category. But that will happen too. So we are going to see India IT and ITES jobs come down over time or at least grow at less stellar pace than earlier. | ||

Keen to prevent a downgrade of India's sovereign rating by Standard & Poor's (S&P), which could trigger an exodus of foreign investors, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has told the Congress party there is no option but to raise diesel prices by at least Rs 5 a litre after the Presidential election. The current diesel subsidy is Rs 9.13 per litre sold. Doing some tough talking at a meeting of the party core committee and with his colleagues outside, Singh explained the sequence of events that could follow a downgrade. In 83 of 100 past cases, a negative outlook by S&P has been followed by 'junk' status to a country. S&P gives 90 days' notice to governments to take corrective action.
