Xxx:I work thrice as fast as I was ten years before ,, my work is one time , do it right first time
Right that is called experience. But that is mostly with self centered activities. When it comes to application software development, experience is not the only weapon. I see how people end up spending weekends to meet the stiff timelines. Local people will never accept for those time lines in first case as they donot want to waste their weekends |

Telugu_times:they are paying the price in the form of quality as well. Balanced.
Do you think currently these companies have enough local resources to maintain the same quality what they are getting today. They are paying for 40 hrs , but resource work more than 40 hrs. Can any one does that here How many instances are there where the quality was declared as Bad ? If companies reduce their dependencies on IBM, EDS etc , they can save a lot |

On a different note, a lot of companies buy AC units from GM for their cars (Rolls Royce included) With the current heat wave, there was an article on automobile forums comparing which cars are doing well and which are not. 01/06/2012 - 169.4;05/04/2012 - 175.8 |

@IPAD: Not all the clients are happy about outsourcing.....Ameriprise ran into trouble when it's data was skewed by one of the 3rd party contractor, which brought $2 million loss to the company. There are many such several instances .. |

Qdoba:GM's new Ceo Randy Mott plans to bring nearly all IT work in house...Today about 90% of GM's IT services are provided by HP/EDS, IBM, Capgemini and Wipro..and only 10% are done by GM employees...Mott plans to flip those percentages in next 3 years..90% GM staff and 10% outsourcers.
This is not feasible in terms of cost , resources No one in USA can work the same number of hrs as these vendors at offshore do GM has to shell double of what it is paying for IT to do so At the most they can reduce to 30-70 |

For those of you, who are too young... In early 90s, Detroit was a dream place to get IT jobs. in those big 3, you can go in as a contractor for $100 and stay there as long as you wanted. It was even better than silicon valley, until late 90s when Internet boom happened. Good old days... |
