go by AirIndia which has direct flight from US to India.Otherwise u will face problems.

same situation tho 2008 lo travel chesa via Frankfort no issues.

dont need transit visa if you going to home country ,but check with travel
agents for recent information

Try to do it through middle east or Asia (Singapore, hong kong etc).
